In a message congratulating Iran's national freestyle wrestling team in the Asian Games of Kyrgyzstan, President Raisi stated that "with your great efforts, you were able to once again raise the proud flag of our country over the old continent and bring joy and happiness to the great nation of Iran. I am sincerely thankful."
Iran clinched five gold medals and secured the championship title in the 2024 Asian Wrestling Championship, currently taking place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Rahman Amouzad Khalili (65 kg), Amir-Mohammad Yazdani (70 kg), Mohammad Nokhodi (79 kg), Amir-Hossein Firouzpour (92 kg), and Amir-Hossein Zare’ (125 kg) bagged the gold medals.
Additionally, the following wrestlers earned bronze medals: Hossein Abuzari at 74 kg, Hadi Vafaipour at 86 kg, and Mohammad-Hossein Mohammadian at 97 kg.
Iran clinched the championship with 190 points, followed by Japan (130 points) and Kyrgyzstan (121 points).
